One tip to increase your productivity by a thousand fold

11 Consejos para tratar con gente tóxica.

Yes, I know that productivity is much more complex than just one single item explained in 500 words. But, you know what? it is much better to read 500 words about productivity and implement just that single thing you learned, than reading a 350 pages book and going to an 8 hours seminar, where you find out the best tricks to become the most productive person that ever existed, just to find out that 3 months later you are not applying anything of all those wonderful tricks that you learned.

So, if you were to implement just one thing in your daily routine, one simple task that could increase your productivity, what could it be?

I could tell you a few of them, but if I do I might create indecision of which one will you chose, or you might be tempted to implement them all, and our goal today is to start doing something right now. So here is my recommendation… I know it is a little bit old school, there is no technology involved… but it works and it is as easy as it gets.

Double your productivity:

1. Go grab a paper sheet now.

2. Fold it 4 times in halves.

3. When you are done, you will have 16 little squares in each side.

4. Number one for each day of the month.

5. Use each square to write 3 activities that you want to accomplish that day

You have to focus on completing 3 tasks every day. At least one of them has to be a very important task. Some advice on how to implement this properly:

1. Don’t write them with days in advance. Do it the day before or that very morning, as your priorities may change. Unless it is something very specific or a big project that you are dividing in different steps, and you want to get it done by day X.

2. Select tasks that completely depend on you. For example you can write “call 60 prospects”, you shouldn’t write “sell 20k” because that is a goal, not a task.

3. Be realistic, don’t write down 3 things that are not possible to accomplish in one day.

4. If you are in the middle of a project that will require full time of you for many days, then divide the project in simpler tasks, that way you can make sure every day you are moving forward in that project.

5. Don’t jump from one action to another. Complete one, then go for the next one.

6. If the action of the day requires all day, just write down that one, don’t feel like you need to do 3 things. What is important is to get done at least one important thing every day.

7. You can also use this to improve your productivity in your personal life. Writing down all those things that you haven’t done but you know you should, such as empty your garage, fix the lights in the porch, create your blog, whatever it is.

Please be sure to share one productivity tip that you believe to be very useful.
